“Choose to Challenge” is the Women’s Day theme this year. Women’s bodies go through a lot of hormonal changes right from puberty to childbirth and menopause. Today’s fast-paced lifestyles have made it more challenging for women to maintain a healthy routine. That is why women’s health problems are on the rise, and these serious situations shouldn’t be ignored.
Let’s see some of the common women’s health issues.
Breast cancer is the second most common cancer in American women despite being easily identifiable. Being a woman and increasing age is the common factor for developing this cancer. However, regular breast screening tests and breast cancer medications can help in early diagnosis to make the condition better.
Due to the stressful lifestyle, premature menopause is on the rise. It can cause severe problems such as heart diseases, osteoporosis, stroke, and infertility.
The awareness about this disease is not much, but survival rates are not hopeful if diagnosed at later stages. It is essential to visit a gynecologist regularly for pelvic examinations.
With increasing age, the bone density of women starts to decline. This density is maintained by estrogen, and as the estrogen level drops, it will initiate degenerative bone changes. Early detection with regular bone density tests after the age of 35 is advisable.
Depression and anxiety are mainly due to hormonal changes, personal trauma, social issues, abuse, etc. This situation can lead to suicidal tendencies. It is advised not to ignore the mental condition.

The current lifestyle has resulted in an alarming rise in obesity, leading to many diseases and increasing cancer risk. So, diabetes screening and regular body check-ups are crucial to identify any such conditions developing.
Now that we know the various common health issues women go through let’s see what a woman can do to take better care of their health.
The perfect obesity killer is regular exercise. Simply half an hour of workout daily is adequate to stay fit and healthy. Pick any activity of your choice but be regular.
Stress is a part of everyday working life. Plan your daily schedule in advance and learn to prioritize. Manage your stress and tense period by meditating or sitting alone for some time to release the stress and pressure.
Women tend to take good care of their loved ones but often deprive themselves of the essential nutrition their body requires. Focus on eating healthy food to get the proper nutrients, minerals, dietary fiber, etc.
One of the best ways to cope with depression and other hormonal changes is to get adequate sleep at night and maybe some power naps in the daytime. At least sleep 7-9 hours daily, and your mind and body will heal naturally.
#ChooseToChallenge these problems and address these issues to your doctor without any delay. Regularly go for various body screening tests to diagnose any disease that might be developing. Awareness is the key to fight such health conditions. This Women’s Day, I choose to spread awareness about various health issues. Join us in spreading this, and always be in touch with women around you to discuss their problems. Wishing all the women a very happy and healthy International Women’s Day!
